The genus Nectandra Rol. ex Rottb. was studied as a part of the taxonomic survey of the family Lauraceae in the State of Pernambuco, Brazil. Collections were made in several areas, including all ph y to geographic zones of that State, from January 1982 to January 1984. Two species of the genus in question were identified and are reported by the first time to the Northeastern Brazil.
