Regeneration of rice plants (Oryza sativa L.) from immature panicles

Aiming to observe the direct and indirect regeneration potencial, immature panicles of rice cultivars BR IRGA 410 and 414 were cultured on Murashige & Skoog's basal medium complemented with either lmg/l or 2 mg/l 2,4-D or 2 mg/12,4-D or 2 mg/l 2,4-D + 0,2 mg/l K for callus induction and with 1 mg/l of ANA + 4 mg/l of K for direct bud regeneration. In both genotypes, 100% of the panicles developed callus, but the regeneration showed dependency on the callus forming medium. Throguh direct regeneration, 100% of the panicles from both cultivars developed buds with average of 5.8 buds/panicle. ABREVIATION: Murashige, and Skoog medium; 2,4-D - ácido 2,4 doclorofenoxiacetic acid; K - Kinetin; AIA - indole - 3 - acetic acid; ANA - acido - naphthaleneacetic acid.
