We did it!

EDITORIAL

We have made it!

Brazilian Dermatology is at high spirits! Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia (ABD) has just rejoined the database MEDLINE – the main reference in life sciences, concentrated on biomedicine – a level that all scientific medical journals aim to achieve.

As a consequence, ABD is now among the main dermatology journals in the world, a valuable achievement to every and all members of SBD. It is certainly a great victory to the previous editorial board, who once again applied for indexation, especially Bernardo Gontijo and his associated editors. It is also the result of the contribution of authors who have trusted their papers to ABD, the support of the Board of SBD, of the journal support team, as well as the reviewers and counselors. In other words, all those who have believed that joining MEDLINE again was possible.

Brazilian dermatology does certainly deserve this result. After all, it is Adolfo Lutz's dermatology, with its notable contributions in the area of tropical nosology. It is Fernando Terra's and Eduardo Rabello's dermatology, who contributed to the creation of SBD in 1912, which brought scientific dermatological investigation to our area. It also belongs to Oswaldo Cruz who dedicated special attention to dermatological investigation, owing to the influence he has gained in Paris, from Sabouraud, founder of medical mycology. The same applies to Adolpho Lindberg, pioneer in the discovery of etiological agent of leishmaniasis, and Gaspar Viana, who developed an agent to treat tegumentary leishmaniasis. Rubem David Azulay, the great professor, also had a role to play: he founded the teaching institute and was twice the editor in chief of ABD, someone still very active in our area. Finally, Sebastião de Almeida Prado Sampaio's dermatology: the master of us all and great enthusiast of dermatology, recently deceased, whose loss created a gap in Brazilian and world context. In addition to a very long list of distinguished names which would be impossible to cite here. The great area of dermatology, including memorable masters and almost 6,000 SBD members, certainly deserves this special conquer.

It is worth pointing out that ABD was indexed and featured in MEDLINE between 1966 and the beginning of 1971. From then up to present, 38 years have passed by without indexation, regardless of the efforts of previous editors. Therefore, we are up to the fight to attract high quality papers to enrich further our significant journal, maintain its top position among other dermatological publications.

Losing the indexation again is not an option.
