PURPOSE: To study the orbital and eyelid manifestations of Neurofibromatosis type 1 and to report the surgical approach. METHODS: Retrospective study of patients presenting with neurofibromatosis type 1 examined at the Oculoplastic Department of the "Universidade Federal Fluminense and the 38th ward of the Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Rio de Janeiro". RESULTS: Of the 16 patients, 12 had orbital and eyelid neurofibromas, 3 had optic glioma and 3 had osseous dysplasia. Ten patients underwent reconstructive oculoplastic surgery. CONCLUSION: Our results are in agreement with the international literature. Most patients required multiple procedures.
