SUMMARY
To look for the incidence rate of ophthalmic products contamination in an american eye clinic, in-use ophthalmic medications were cultivated. Also material from the lids and conjunctivas were cultured in order to determine if the infection came from the patient eyes. A contamination rate of 21.2% was found. Common microorganisms were Staphilococus sp., Enterobacter sp., Pseudomonas sp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Candida sp., Proteus sp. and Citobacter sp.
