Abstract
New technology, such as cellulose microfiber addition, can improve the performance of fresh mortars moret due to the the fibers’ hydrophilic characteristics. However, the additions’ physical and chemical characteristics, such as the ratio used in the mix, should be controlled to keep the mortars’ behavior suitable. The aim of this work is to evaluate the influence of cellulose microfibers on mortars air ratio, water retention and rheology. Three types of microfibers with three different ratios were used in this research. The results showed that the additions modified the materials’ characteristics and, for these reasons, it should have a limit of microfiber insertion, and, it is important to analyze its characteristics in to attempt the ideal development of each mortar application.
