AUTO-TRANSPLANTAÇÃO DE OVÁRIO NA TELA SUBCUTÂNEA EM CÃES

A segment of autologous ovary, collected by standard surgical technique of triple forceps was implanted in the subcutaneous tissue of 11 dogs. The animals were subsequentley evaluate by clinical exam, especially monitoring heat manifestations, and behaviour. Body weight was monitored every trhee months for 12 months. The implanted ovarian tissue was removed by the end of the experiment for histopathological evaluation. There was no significant changes in body weights. All the experimental implanted female dogs presented heat, although without bloody vaginal discharge. All of the animals remained alert and active, with a behaviour similar to the one presented before surgery. It is concluded that this method represents an alternative for canine reproductive control.
