A comida dos baianos no sabor amargo de Vilhena

Recopilação de notícias soteropolitanas e brasílicas (Compilation of News on Salvador and Brazil), popularly known as "The Letters of Vilhena," has always been a source of reference for scholars of late eighteenth-century Bahia. In this paper, these letters are used to understand the Bahian people's eating habits. It takes an introductory approach, since the data focuses on the production and distribution of food. However, much of that food was already cooked, such as the famous list of "Bahian specialities," which leads us to think about the tables of Bahian people in the twilight of the eighteenth century.
