Open-access SUSCEPTIBILITY OF CULTIVARS OF RICE, UNDER DIFFERENT DOSES OF NITROGEN, TO RHIZOCTONIA SOLANI

ABSTRACT

The present study was carried out during the 2007/2008 agricultural season in the county of Dona Francisca, RS, Brazil, on the soil type “typical eutrophic haplic planossolo” to evaluate the susceptibility of two varieties of rice under different doses of nitrogen (N) in relation to sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani). The parameters evaluated were the number of injuries per sheath, the size of injuries and productivity. For the variables number of injuries per sheath, average size of injuries and productivity there was significant interaction between doses of nitrogen and the varieties of rice used. It was found that cultivar IRGA 417 had lower susceptibility to R. solani and responded positively to the increase of nitrogen in relation to productivity, which was not observed in relation to cultivar IRGA 422CL.
