ABSTRACT
The objective of that study was to verify the incidence of the bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1) in follicular fluid and bovine oviduct epithelial cells of slaughterhouse animals. There were 12 collections and a total of 138 ovaries, after extraction with the protein k enzyme, the samples were amplified, and internal fragment of the gene of the gB of BoHV-1 was used. A sample of follicular fluid presented a band of 175pb being shown positive to the test, while the samples of bovine oviduct epithelial cells, were all verified negatives. This discovery is of great relevance, because BoHV-1 constitutes a risk for the production of embryos in vitro. Leading to embryonic mortality, which has a deep impact in the animal production.
