Abstract
This article discusses how Jacques Rancière thought critically explores Erich Auerbach’s work since the 1990s with an emphasis on the reflection about modern fiction prose. To illustrate how Rancière reaffirms perceptions and refutes Auerbach´s judgments regarding the treatment of daily life in literature we will consider Rancière’s essays on Stendhal and Guimarães Rosa.
