Abstract
This article reviews Leyla Perrone-Moisés’ critical and intellectual achievements as main introducer of Roland Barthes in Brazil, and her uses of the French author to think about criticism and literature to the present. From her vindication of the autonomy of criticism in the 1970s to her current defence of literature, the article studies her reading strategies of the Barthesian corpus.
