Too much sociology

This text was originally published as the editorial for the 16th issue of the journal n+1. It calls attention to the way in which a sociological perspective, which reduces works to bearers of symbolic capital, became naturalized and replaced what once used to be thought as aesthetic concerns in literary studies.
