This study of violence was accomplished through an analysis of oral reports, which were made by homeless street people in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Those reports were viewed in this study as a space of reflection and refraction of social norms. Violence of the excluded is seen then as a form of agonizing speech of a social segment that searches for visibility and hearing. From this perspective, a process of exchange and reciprocity really occurs insofar as the excluded pay back according to the same exchange rate that is used with what is given to them.
