Abstract
The essay Herberto Helder: the law of metamorphosis, the poetic language and the continuous reading investigates in the work of the portuguese poet, especially the books Retrato em movimento, Photomaton e Vox, Apresentação do rosto and Os selos, questions pertaining to: 1 - reading; 2 - continuous spatiality, in which exterior and interior are one thing structured in knots; 3 - categories of truth, irony and metamorphosis in poetry, relying on the resonances of German Romantic thought in Herberto Helder and 4 - creation of a poetic language as a response to the failure of the communication’s language. Finally, it is proposed, as correlated to the metamorphic style and poetic language of the portuguese author, the idea of continuous reading.
