The train and the rags

Abstract

This work is part of the efforts to review the permanence of tradition in brazilian modernism and more specifically in the poetry of Carlos Drummond de Andrade. To do so, we will refer to the author’s correspondence and analyze a poem, “Sabará”, of the series “Lanterna mágica”, of Alguma poesia. Our choice is justified by the fact that this poem enables us to comprehend the first records of the author's concern with the patrimony at a moment when his modern work was starting to be created. It leads us, then, to wonder the constitution of patrimony as writing, and in particular the fruition for destruction which would become essential in the work of Carlos Drummond de Andrade, is already revealed then.

Keywords:
