This article presents a general overview of the creation process of Museu Republicano "Convenção de Itu" in the decade of 1920. Idealized by republicans from São Paulo, the institution's project has exploited the Convenção de Itu's symbolic values and the meaning of place where it was made as a resource to widen the historical legitimacy of the Party hegemony.
