Abstract
This article aims to present the work developed by the Audiovisual Historiography Research Group (UFJF), which focuses on the study of films that present as a theme the cinema itself. First, I present an ongoing research project entitled “Audiovisual historiography of cinema in Brazil”; then, I seek the relationships between my work as a filmmaker and the concept of audiovisual historiography; finally, I bring two case's studies, the first of them on the documentary Panorama do cinema brasileiro (Jurandyr Noronha, 1968); the second, by comparing Carnaval Atlântida (José Carlos Burle, 1953) and La dama de las camelias (José Bohr, 1947, Chile).
