Planning the wastewater use to irrigation in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, state of Paraná with a climatic water balance

The present work accomplished an applied study for the planning of the wastewater use, using a decadal climatic water balance program to simulate the supplemental irrigation. The simulations were accomplished for three groups of cultures, in two sites of the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, State of Paraná (Colombo and Campo Largo), where the Effluents Treatment Stations (ETS) are installed. Considering the probable precipitation at the 75 percent level (P75%), the supplemental irrigation for the vegetables, fruits/forage and grain plants in the region of Campo Largo and Colombo is approximately 123.5, 158.9 and 205.3 mm, respectively, requesting approximately 2 to 5 irrigation year-1 to Colombo (AWC = 103.4 mm) and approximately 5 to 13 irrigation year-1 for Campo Largo (AWC = 34.6 mm). Considering the project discharge of ETS and the maximum width between ETo75% and P75%, only 118.9 and 396.3 ha could be irrigated in Colombo and Campo Largo, respectively.
