Political Economy of Knowledge: Counterpoints

Abstract

Abstract: The analysis of the relationship between education and economic development is being renewed due to new assessments of the economic, social and global context; it also changes the perspective of the concept of human capital, changing the way it is generated in educational institutions. The new bases of organization and training of knowledge are today a new social and economic value that are configured in periods of structural transition of long wave with unequal effects and causes between what is coming and what is already in process; In this context, public policies, universities and cultural institutions and all institutions related to the development of science and technology come to be decisive to define the meaning that is adopted about the kind of society we envisage. This article examines some points that have circumstantially explained models of economic policy, which determined how to build knowledge and, more generally, outlined the scenarios in which economic policy has historically been defined, points that are now being revised in their validity and approach.
