Exterior orientation of a stereo pair of Ikonos II images based on DLT non-rigorous model

The technology improvement which has occurred in areas such as Computer Sciences, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing has contributed significantly to many researches in 3D information extraction from high resolution images. The present paper shows a solution to perform the exterior orientation of a stereo pair of Ikonos II images and photogrammetric intersection, using a non rigorous model based on the mathematical model DLT (Direct Linear Transformation). The main research goals is the evaluation of the model performance for this kind of application associated with the best layout of control points to perform the indirect georeferecing of the Ikonos stereo pair to compute 3D coordinates via photogrammetric intersection. From the performed experiments, the best layout of control points was obtained. Using this control point configuration, the experiment yielded horizontal accuracy close to one pixel while vertical accuracy was close to 1.5 pixels.
