Benedito Nunes’ view of Eidorfe Moreira’s work

Abstract

The Amazonian professors and intellectuals Eidorfe Moreira (1912-1989), better known as a geographer, and Benedito Nunes (1929-2011), usually associated with philosophy and literary criticism, were, despite their age difference, close colleagues due to their activities at the Universidade Federal do Pará and at the Superintendência do Plano de Valorização Econômica da Amazônia. They also shared a strong interest in several areas of knowledge, in the relationships among those areas and in the possibilities of a critical reconstruction of knowledge. In different places in his vast work, Benedito Nunes makes reference to Eidorfe Moreira’s thinking and to his extensive intellectual production. Based on Benedito Nunes’ essays, this paper intends to interpret the philosopher’s view on the geographer.
