Revealing the invisible: social movements in fishery and its actions in the estuary of Pará

This paper presents reflections which have not been modified during the years, and relate to the causes and consequences of the actions of the social movements and the people that are involved in them who try to create alternatives of surviving for farmers, fishermen, etc. The methodology used in the analysis was the participant observation, and the use of interviews made among leaders of the community, fishermen of Marudá and leaders of the Movimento Nacional dos Pescadores (MONAPE) and of the Conselho Pastoral da Pesca (CPP). The aim here is to show theoretical perspectives for the understanding of the social movements involving the fishermen in the northeast of Pará and to be a way of attracting the attention of the government, ONGs, social movements and all organizations related to the fishing, in order to to promote and guarantee a social and political organization whose objective is not only financial but also directed to the political consciousness of the fishermen, throughout forums of discussions so they may claim for their social demands in the global context of necessity, conflict and violence andindividual rights.
