EDITORIAL NOTE
The Brazilian Journal of Biology received a letter from the National Committee on Research Ethics with information on scientific publications stating that: (item IX.7, Resolution 196/96): "the research financing agencies and the editorial staff of scientific journals should demand documentation proof from the Research Ethic Committee and the Research Ethic National Committee" in the event that the research experiments involve human beings. Therefore, beginning with this edition, research studies submitted to the Brazilian Journal of Biology that involve human experiments should be duly accompanied of a certificate from the Research Ethic Committee.
