Editorial note
We celebrate with this volume 69 years of continuous publication of the Brazilian Journal of Biology® (BJB). This first number of Volume 69 contains varied contributions from several areas of Neotropical Biology and Ecology. The Brazilian Journal of Biology® thus maintains its tradition of publishing high quality papers in all areas of Biology, Zoology, Botany and Ecology of the Neotropics.
Considerable improvements have been made over the last year: reduction of publishing time after acceptance of the papers; intensive use of internet facilities for distribution of papers to reviewers, better facilities for shipment of the Brazilian Journal of Biology® to associates, strengthening of the Association of BJB, increasing quality of reviewers and expansion of the geographic representation of highly qualified scientists on the Advisory and Editorial Board. Due to Editorial and organizational approaches, each number is publishing between 25 and 34 papers. The effort of the Editorial Board is now to make available all 69 volumes of BJB by CD-Rom in order to facilitate access to the publication. An on-line publication of the journal is also programmed for the near future. Four numbers a year will continue to be published but the on-line distribution of papers will be introduced for express consultation.
