Open-access Movements of desire in Mathematics Education: exercises with the body-eye-of-the-sensible

Abstract

Composing with Mathematics Education, exercising the body-eye-of-the-sensible in relation to the real/actual of movements with the school, the mathematics classroom, teaching practices and tactics, theoretical and methodological trends, we produce resonances through three figures: the aspiring-mathematics-teacher, the teacher-as-coach, and the teacher-as-philosopher. These figures, however, do not represent fixed models, nor do they follow a linear process. Rather, there may be displacements among them with no predetermined order—a flow of movements allowing transits across formative territories. In composing with intensive landscapes through a cartographic exercise, we seek to make visible the lines of force that strain the prescriptions of a mathematics-teacher-form.
