Fiber dimensions of peanut shells

Fiber dimensions of shells of five peanut varieties were determined in order to examine their potential for the cellulose and paper making industry. Average fiber length varied from 0.57 to 0.67 mm among the varieties studied, but the differences were not significant. The low values obtained for fiber length and fiber dimension relationship suggest that peanut shells alone cannot be indicated for production of good quality cellulose or paper.
