SUMMARY
This paper reports a heavy damage caused by the mite Rhizoglyphussp. (Acarina Acaridae)to the roots of carrots from two experimental fields in Campinas, State of São Paulo, which were previously healthy. In one of these fields an infection of Sclerotinia sclerotiorumfollowed the mite damage and the roots rotted. In the other field there was no occurrence of this disease and less plants were killed. The origin of the infestation was not determined.
