Effect of phosphorus fertilizers on wheat production

A pot experiment was carried out in greenhouse to study the influence of increasing doses of phosphorus fertilizers, at various levels of pH, and lime, on wheat production in soil of the "Latossolo Vermelho Escuro orto" Great Group. Superphosphate (simple and concentrated), thermophosphate, diammonium phosphate and rock phosphate were used at the rates of 0, 100, and 200 kg P2O5/ha in presence and absence of lime, and always in presence of nitrogen and potassium. The results showed a significant effect of lime on grain and dry matter production. In presence of lime all the phosphorus fertilizers, with exception of the rock phosphate, gave good results. In absence of lime the simple superphosphate and termophosphate were better than the others with respect to grain production.
