SUMMARY

Characteristic fibrous intranuclear inclusions were easily detected in whole mounts of fresh leaf epidermal strips and in sections of paraffin-embedded leaf tissues from celery yellow mosaic virus (CYMV) infected coriander, a wild Apiumand Chenopodium quinoa,in the light microscope. They were less frequent and more difficult to detect in celery and parsley leaves, being absent in tissues from healthy control plants. These inclusions commonly appear as fibrous ring-like structures following the contour of the nucleus, but occasionally produce more complex patterns.

It is pointed out that these inclusions are very useful for a rapid and precise diagnosis of diseases induced by celery yellow virus.
