A RIFAMPICINA NA DESCONTAMINAÇÃO BACTERIANA DE EXPLANTES DE MAMOEIRO PROVENIENTES DO CAMPO

High contamination by bacteria was observed in papaya tissue cuttings introduced in vitro from plants grown in the field, independent of the period of the year that samples were collected. The use of alcohol and sodium hypoclorite did not guarantee good bacteria control. Rifampicin, added as an immersion solution treatment or in the culture media, controlled the internal contamination of explants, without damaging the cuttings. Up to 70% of healthy tissue explants were obtained by the use of rifampicin.
