Open-access Integrative community therapy: a panorama of academic production

Abstract

Introduction:  Integrative Community Therapy (ICT) is an interpersonal meeting that promotes the exchange of experiences aiming at the empowerment of participants.

Objective:  The study analyzed the impact of ICT on academic production.

Method:  Integrative review research in Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Scopus, Web of Science, United States National Library of Medicine (PubMed), EBSCO, Theses and Dissertations Catalog and the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations of the Brazilian Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel.

Results:  It is noteworthy that, of the 95 productions, 64 report the application of this practice with diverse audiences. TCI is seen as a resource for improving professional performance and a strategy for reflections on the work process of primary care and mental health teams. Discussions about training in ICT and public policies are still incipient.

Conclusion:  Investment in academic production is essential for the execution of initiatives that ensure the consolidation of ICT and integrative and complementary practices in the Unified Health System, as it can contribute to the decision-making of public policy makers based on scientific evidence. It is opportune to say that this becomes essential, especially at the present time with the dismantling of primary care and mental health policies and the process of hospitalizations and medicalization.
