Abstract
Background
The Dental Specialist Centers (CEO) have an important role in reducing the iniquities of access to specialized dental services. Thus, they should be evaluated for the continuous improvement of their performance.
Objective
To evaluate compliance with the performance goals of the CEO of the 2nd Health Regional of Paraná.
Method
The performance of the CEO was assessed by the Global Goal Compliance indicator and socioeconomic indicators. For that, secondary data from 2014 of the Outpatient Information System of the Unified Health System (SIA/SUS), the National Register of Health Establishments (CNES) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) were used.
Results
In 2014, only the CEO of the municipality of Colombo presented poor performance (meeting no goal), establishing divergence to the optimal performance (compliance with the 3 goals) obtained by the other municipalities studied.
Conclusion
The performance of CEOs is influenced by the contextual characteristics of the region in which they are inserted. Therefore, it is necessary to rethink the evaluation methods of these establishments, through the construction of evaluation instruments that consider the singularity of each region.
