This article discusses the childhood and schooling of men and women of different ages, living in the city of São Paulo. They all share one common factor - being black and, as such, share the trajectory of their families, once merged in the same space of colour and race. Thereof come challenges and conquests in terms of the social positions that these families have at the present moment.
