Open-access RE-SIGNIFICATION OF TEACHING WORK IN THE UNESCO´S EDUCATION 2050 PROJECT

ABSTRACT

This article analyzes the Reimagining Our Future Together Report, published by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in 2021. Evoking a fair, sustainable and peaceful future, it proposes reforms in the curriculum, teacher training and school organization. It recommends bringing non-formal and informal education closer to formal education, thereby supporting the private sector as provider of public services. Furthermore, it disqualifies the public schools and universities as training institutions and encourages the growth of the global educational industry. Thus, this project gives a new meaning to school and teaching work aiming to ensure the conditions of capitalist production and social reproduction.
