Teachers' continuing education: reflections on the participation in the National Pact for Alphabetization at the Correct Age

Abstract

This report addresses the Federal Government Program, National Pact for Alphabetization at Correct Age (PNAIC), whose objective is that all children be alphabetized by the age of eight, or, by the end of the 3rd year of elementary school, aiming to improve the education indexes of the country. It discusses the Continuing Education model proposed by PNAIC by highlighting the challenges of Continuing Education, as well as the variables related to the peculiarities of each region regarding its implementation and enforcement, in respect to the material and pedagogical conditions.
