Open-access THE FACES OF EDUCATION PRIVATIZATION IN CHILE

ABSTRACT

The process of privatization of education in Chile is analyzed based on a review of different areas of the educational system: school meals, school texts and the production of educational policy. Based on a review of primary and secondary sources, the process of privatization of the educational system is described as the establishment of a new rationality. This rationality, based on market principles, interrupted the historical development of the public education system, constituting a model that has gradually restored corporate control.
