Youth in the ensino médio normal: notes on trajectories in training

This text presents reflections on a research conducted between 2008 and 2010 that involved 60 young 8th and 9th grades students in "ensino médio normal" (high schools that trains students to be basic education teachers), in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The results clearly reveal the complexity of teacher training, which is composed along the school career and is permeated with meanings and valuations made by the students themselves. The training process is mainly intended to place a large contingent of youths in the teaching career, in search of their status as professionals.
