PLATYPUS RELOADED: uberisation and contemporary gig jobs in the crisis of capital

This paper aims to contribute to the critical evaluation of the current arrangement of the world of work in decomposition resulting from the internal contradictions of capital. Thus, the process called uberization is investigated with a focus on the forms of subsumption of labor and its exploitation in the contemporary moment of the crisis of accumulation of capital. We investigate the possible contributions of Karl Marx’s formulations from the tradition of the so-called critique of value as a key reading. In this way, we present here a critique of the productive forces and the forms of domination in course. In order to do so, we bring together this theoretical framework with the writings of Chico de Oliveira in order to offer a possible interpretation of the current moment of the critical reproduction of capital.
