GLOBAL INEQUALITY, MULTIDIMENSIONAL CRISIS AND THE FALLACIES OF DEVELOPMENT

Contemporary capitalism has amplified its inequality-producing condition. Such broadening has been revealed by the multidimensional character taken by the capitalist crisis. Its continuity also challenges the notions linked to the possibilities of correcting capitalism and overcoming its intrinsic inequalities via the historical figure of reform. This paper highlights specific yet global processes, pointing out their “systemic impossibilities,” which critically unveil the fallacies of development, in projects that deepen social disparities of all kinds, at the service of big capital and to the detriment of workers. To this end, the texts analyzes two case studies – Brazil and China – highlighting the multidimensional character of the capitalist crisis and its relation to the production of inequalities.
