For some years now, far-right parties and organisations in Latin America have achieved unexpected electoral successes. In Argentina, economist Javier Milei stands out as one of the most important candidates for the presidential elections to be held in October 2023. The aim of this paper is to offer a first approach to the growth of “La Libertad Avanza” (LLA), the personalist party organisation, defined as radical right-wing, led by Javier Milei. We propose: a) a historical analysis in order to contextualize and understand the scenario in which LLA began to unfold; b) a characterization of Javier Milei and an analysis of his ideas; and c) a first approach on the way in which LLA is expanding in the Argentine geography, observing the deployment of the party at the subnational level and taking as cases the provinces of Chubut, Tucumán and Santa Fe.
