Ceramic catalytic materials composed by hexaluminate of alkaline earth metal (Ba and Ca): synthesis and structural analysis

Abstract

The aim of this work is to develop ceramic catalysts composed by hexaluminates alkaline earth metals (Ca and Ba) - CaAl12O19 and BaAl12O19, respectively, in the form of ceramic powder by means of Pechini and the combustion reaction methods. Analyze the influence of these synthesis methods on the structural and physical characteristics of the materials obtained is part of the objectives of this study. Both synthesis methods employed in this study were effective for the reproduction of the aforementioned ceramic materials. However, based on the results obtained, the Pechini method showed more suitable for reproduction of these materials of a matter brought to obtaining of samples composed by hexaluminate of calcium and barium containing lower residual amounts of organic matter derived from the methodology synthesis beyond them has been presented more appropriate textural characteristics for a ceramic material intended for the heterogeneous catalytic processes of gaseous loads.
