The present work focuses on the morphological and physical-chemical characteristics of a diatomaceous composite material sample obtained of a fresh-water pond. This material was selected so that its characteristics regarding morphology, chemical composition, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis, particle size analysis and specific surface could be studied. It was found tubular morphology for the diatomaceous composite material. In addition, it is constituted basically by silica and kaolinite, as well as presents a diatomaceous earth size above 15 mum. The obtained results suggest also that the diatomaceous material has potentiality to be employed for processing.
