WOOD AND YIELD OF THE BLACK WATTLE (Acacia mearnsii De Wild) IN DIFFERENT SPACINGS

ABSTRACT

The effects of initial tree spacing on bark and wood yield of black wattle (Acacia mearnsii De Wild) were studied. The experimental design was a complete block with four replications. The tree spacing treatments were of 1 x 1 m; 3 x 1,33 m; and 3.0 x 2.0 m. The smaller spacing is, the bigger the yield of bark and wood is. However, it was observed higher plant mortality and smaller stem diameter.
