THE DISTRIBUTION OF POSTURES, LARVAE AND NATURAL ENEMIES OF Oncideres impluviata (Germar, 1824) (Col.; Cerambycidae)

ABSTRACT

The objective of this research was to observe the distribution, independent of the effect of each component, it was counted the postures, healthy larvae, predated or parasitized larvae of the twig girdler Oncideres impluviata in branches of bracatinga (Mimosa scabrella Benth.). The survey was conducted during 1984/85 season in Almirante Tamandaré - Paraná state. For the study about the distribution of the larvae and natural enemies, it was measured the distance between the branch base up to the point where the healthy or parasitized larvae, empty gallery or predator was located. The results indicated that the larvae were concentrated after 10.0 cm of the branch base up to 40.0 cm and maximum concentration between 10.0 and 20.0 cm. The concentration of predator and parasites were not coincident. Parasites were concentrated in the 20.0 - 30.0 cm segment. It was concluded that the larvae were located in a position with the best surviving conditions. On the other hand, parasites and predators depend on intrinsic conditions of each species and in function of the ideal conditions of the development stage of the host or prey.
