BIOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF Oncideres impluviata AND OF O. captiosa IN SANTA MARIA - RS. (COLEOPTERA: CERAMBYCIDAE)

ABSTRACT

Aiming to verify the reproductive potencial of the twing girdlers, Oncideres impluviata (Germar, 1824) on the angico tree, Parapiptadenia rigida (Benth.)(Leguminosae) and O. captiosa Martins, 1981, on the camphor tree, Cinnamomum camphora (L.) Nees et Ebern (Lauraceae) during the period 1986/88, the number of posture incisions were counted on 20 cm seccions in cutted branches taking notes on the number of developed larvae and emerged adults. It was observed that O. impluviata cutted branches in isolated trees compared to the ones inside a grove. More adults emerged from branches cutted inside than outside the grove. The average number of posture incisions by O. captiosa was greater than O. impluviata, however the average number of developed larvae was about 50% lass in O. captiosa than in O. impluviata.
