The process of globalization has brought a series of changes of paradigms. Not all of them are in totum favorable to society. This article analyzes the firts results of the effects of globalization upon the information society. It draws a comparison between the studies of Masuda and Drahos about the future the information society in a globalized economy. Emphasis must be laid on the importance of professional training and awareness of citizenship to face the dangers of domineering groups which may block the rights of all to information and knowledge.
