The study of the guide for experiments made available in virtual repositories through inquiry-based teaching

Abstract:

The presence of materials for education on the internet is increasing and its popularization among teachers and students has also been increasing gradually. However, such materials still require research into their conceptual and pedagogical quality. In this study, we intended to identify investigative elements in the guides for experiments in the proposed class available on the teachers’ portal of the Ministry of Education. The analysis of the investigative elements and the understanding of the organization of the guides resulted from criteria established by inquiry-based teaching and Discursive Textual Analysis, respectively. The analysis indicated that although many scripts have innovations in order to increase student participation during the experiments, the proposition of problems for the conduction of the experiments does not actually occur. These results may contribute to a reflection about the role assigned by teachers who work in Basic Education to experimentation in the teaching of Chemistry.
