Abstract:
This article focuses on the emergence of parenting as a regulatory node within the framework of antipoverty programs and development projects. The data was produced from an analytical review of documents from international organizations – key agents in these processes – on early childhood development. I argue that this politicization of parenting implies a new turn in the historical processes of regulation and intervention on the upbringing of young children and in their construction as malleable, incomplete and future-oriented beings, based on renewed uses and entanglements of brain-based arguments and the social investment approach.
