Abstract:
This paper aims to present, in general, the rationale for performance of municipalities in the field of public safety, as well as pointing out some of the contributions of the Observatory of Public Security of Canoas in knowledge management of municipal politics, qualifying the tactical-operational activities of the various agencies participating in the local “Integrated Management Office” (GGI-M). The experience of the observatory appears as an expression of the interlacing of scientific/academic research with the local management of public security. This kind of research performed by observatory appears as essential to the decisions of municipal administrators, especially in the consolidation of public policies that are intended not only government but also to state policies.
